Establishing a Named Scholarship with Community Scholarship Fund of Teaneck

Establishing a named scholarship is a wonderful way to honor a special someone or an organization or to commemorate the life well-lived of a loved one while inspiring our students at the same time. Community Scholarship Fund of Teaneck makes it easy to carry on the legacy of the honoree by providing funds for graduating high school seniors to pursue their career goals. Process to establish a scholarship:

1. Donate a minimum of $250 clearly marked with the name of the scholarship or memorial.

2. Submit a brief profile of the person or organization being honored or memorialized so that Teaneck students can learn and appreciate the legacy of the honoree or organization.

3. Establish criteria for the recipient(s), i.e., if the person was an attorney, the criteria could be that the applicant shall pursue a career in pre-law, liberal arts, service, political science, etc.

4. Participate in the selection process, if desired, by reviewing applications and attending applicant interviews, which occur in late April and early May.

5. Designate if the financial aid amount(s) is a one-time contribution for a given year or will recur.

6. Present the scholarship at the June Awards Assembly (strongly recommended but not mandatory).

7. Establish a named bank account to hold scholarship funds that carry over from year to year and exceed $1,000. Please contact our treasurer at teaneckcommunityscholarship@gmail.com for more information.
